Hi, when I use the litespeed cache plugin I am getting layout shift on some pages that I dont get when not using litespeed cache.

If I clear the cache then the shift goes away and but will start happening on another page.

The shift is only of the logo within the header and only on the mobile phone breakpoint.

Its very odd but it looks sometimes the cached version of my webpages are getting an error that causes the CSS to incorrectly work out the logo size for mobile breakpoint so when the actual logo loads then there is shift in the header.

I use Astra Pro theme and have contacted them and they dont think there is any problems from their side.

It doesnt make any difference what the the CSS, JS, placeholder, lazyload and image optimise settings are the only thing to stop the shift is clearing the cache or turning off litespees cache.

    Thanks 👍

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I should add that I can see the shift both on my mobile phone and in google page speed insights where a series of screenshots shows the logo resizing in mobile screen size.

Hi yes it does happen until I clear the cache and then it temporarily goes away.

I keep clearing the cache as I do prefer my site when there is no layout shift.

Any ideas why this is happening?

I can only guess that for some reason the litespeed cached version of my webpages have an error that stops them working out how big the logo should be on mobile screen size bug what would cause that is beyond me.

    Thanks

its only on mobile screen size and its currently shifting during loading of page:
    https://www.slservice.net/clipper-blade-sharpening/

and that will continue to have the layout shift until I clear the cache.
And its only ‘purge all’ that will temporarily stop it, the other ‘purges’ dont stop it.

I’ll not clear the cache until midnight gmt

please try go to Cache -> Cache -> enable mobile cache , save and purge all and see how it goes

Wow, thats possibly fixed it though I’d give it a couple of days to be sure!

Ive been fiidling about for ages and never tried that as it says:

“Only enable for AMP or mobile-specific design/content, not for responsive sites.”

Can you comment any further on what this setting does and why it may have fixed the shift ?

    Thanks

my thought was your page might have 2 styles , one for desktop , one for mobile , then obvious when desktop style applid to mobile, or vice versa, will certainly create layout shift

with that option on, it will create 2 caches for same page, one cache for mobile, one cache for desktop

Great thanks, Page speed doesn’t seem to be effected

so now tablets and mobile screen size comes from one cache and larger screen sizes come from another cache.

It does seem to have done the trick and if its still ok after a few days I’ll pass on the info to Astra who might find it useful and maybe some other themes have the same problem.

Everything working well after 2 days.

Its a relief to finally have that fixed.

    Thanks
