 * do you have a layout which:-
    includes the featured image, excludes the date,
   excludes the category, includes the description
 * do you have functionality that the user must enter their email address which 
   integrates with MailChimp?

   and for MailChimp integration, you will need wpdm pro and MailChimp add-on (
