I bought space online in order to create an online portfolio to post all my university research, short stories and samples of music I compose.

For a few weeks, I have been working on Joomla and Mambo tutorials but I was thinking of using WordPress instead.

My question is: Is it easy to create sections and categories for my research, stories and music in wordpress?

I guess it would be okay if I post my essays and stories as blog entries and allow comments. As for my music, if I have them as mp3 files; can I create the option of making them downloadable instead of files only playable on my website?

    Thanks.

Categories: easy, as wp is based on a category plan anyway. You could even post your entries to a special “commentless” template if you’d prefer to not allow comments.

As to downloading the music: you’d just need to link to compressed files elsewhere on the server, rather than to a “podpress” type player. Or you could even do both.

WordPress is EXTREMELY flexible. And (having used the others you mention as well) I can truthfully say it’s far easier to learn than either joomla or mambo, not to mention drupal.
