On the dashboard, where you receive notification that there is a new version of wordpress available, it always displays that there is no new version available. Also all of the news feed sections on the bashboard had “200” connection errors and do not display the proper news feeds.

We are also have issues with Akismet not connecting to its servers either. There is a how to to fix the Akismet issue but I’m having trouble finding the information for wordpress to fix its issues. Are there specific IP addresses or domains for which wordpress needs to connect to to check for updates? If so, what are they?

  • There are no specific IP addresses or domains needed. This sounds like an issue with your server configuration. All connections to 3rd party sites are being blocked. Have a word with your hosts about it.

I actually figured it out about 10 minutes ago. It turns out there was an issue with the wp_options table. The following post explains the fix.
