Latest Version breaks WordPress with Oxygen Builder Classic
-
My Client’s site uses the 2.1 version. When I upgraded the site to 3.1.0, WordPress displayed a critical error. However, after deleting the SimplyBook plugin, the site came back.
Fix????
-
Luckily this was on a staging version of the site and not the live site.
Hi @guerre64,
I’m sorry to hear about the issue you experienced. I’ve just tried replicating the error by installing the latest version of SimplyBook (3.1.0) alongside Oxygen Classic (4.9.1) on a fresh WordPress 6.8.1 installation; but can’t seem to trigger any critical errors when doing so.
Could you enable Debugging on the WordPress site in question (by installing & enabling a plugin called WP Debugging, or by manually setting
WP_DEBUGtotrue) and trigger the issue once more by re-enabling both plugins, so that the full error message gets displayed; and attach the error message in this thread? This would allow us to have a closer look at the error, and determine what it’s caused by exactly.
Kind regards, Jarno
Thanks for the response – I will get back to you ASAP
Here’s the error:

Is this because the domain is for the live site and not the staging?? Could that be causing the problem?
If so, how do I set it up to ensure we can check plugin functionality and updates on the staging site??
Hi @guerre64,
Thanks for posting the error message. It seems that the ‘legacy design settings’ (specifically on your staging site) are not in the expected format, which causes this error.
Given the above explanation, you can run the following snippet to clear the design settings on the staging site; which should solve this issue.
– Save the following snippet as a .php file and upload it to the
/wp-content/mu-plugins/folder on your staging site.– Visit your site with
?run_simplybookme_cleanup=1appended to the URL to start the clean-up process, for example:https://staging.example.com/?run_simplybookme_cleanup=1– Remove the snippet
sb-delete-legacy-options.phpfrom the/wp-content/mu-plugins/folder of your staging site.– Re-activate SimplyBook on the staging site to confirm that the issue has been resolved
I’m curious to hear about your findings upon performing the above steps. Let me know!
Kind regards, JarnoThanks – I will give this a go later today sometime and get back to you!
Cheers,
Phil.Hi @guerre64,
Sure, just let me know how you get on!
And just to add: we’ll also include a fix to prevent this issue in the next release, so it won’t be able to occur any longer after that.
Kind regards, Jarno
Thanks Jarno – looking at this right now.
Hi @guerre64,
Just wondering whether you have been able to solve this with the above instructions?
If not, rest assured that the next release of the plugin will also prevent this issue from happening by default; no additional steps needed.
Kind regards, Jarno
Hi Jarno and apologies for taking a while to get back to you.
That does appear to sovle the issue and the new version of the plugin now works without triggering an error. I have not got this happening on the live site as yet, but will do so in the next few days.
Cheers,
Phil. Thanks for the great support Jarno – I have now updated the live site for my Client and everything is working perfectly.
Appreciate your prompt response and the solution you provided.
Cheers,
Phil. That’s great to hear, appreciate the confirmation! @guerre64
Kind regards, Jarno
