 * Hello,
 * I updated to the latest NextGen (3.5), and noticed you said it contained updates
   to make it compatible up to PHP 8.0.
 * We have the latest WP version and PHP 7.4. I still get this error when saving
   settings in NextGen: “Call to undefined function ctype_lower()”
 * I noticed that if I go to an earlier PHP, it doesn’t give that error.
 * Please advise, thanks!

 * I am also unable to upload images now, and getting that same error when trying
   to ‘manage’ a gallery. I deactivated all the plugins and used the 2021 theme,
   still getting the error! And I cannot change the “custom styles” option, which
   you say has been depreciated, same error when I try. It is stuck on “yes,” so
   don’t know if that is contributing to the problem. Can I change that in the database
   for now? Can’t find the setting for it there.
 * Also, when I said earlier versions of PHP don’t give that error, I was referring
   to testing I did with that a few months ago. Now our website host doesn’t give
   an option for any earlier versions than 7.3. So, I can’t go back even if I wanted
   to. So, I really need some help with this.
 * Thanks!

 * Okay, turns out that our website host, FatCow, does not yet have the ctype module
   working with their latest PHP. Had to go back to PHP 7.3, and it’s working, not
   getting the ctype error. (I had previously neglected to clear the browser cache
   when testing that version before.)

 * I resolved this issue on Fatcow by requesting they install the ctype module,
   which they had in PHP 7.3 but not 7.4.
