Latest update no longer sending tweets to X
-
After updating to the latest version of this plugin, whenever a post is published, it’s no longer being automatically sent as a tweet to X.
Nothing changed except for updating this plugin.

same issue here. The plugin doesn’t work anymore.
The biggest issue is that documentation doesn’t match the current status of X https://xposterpro.com/connecting-xposter-and-x-com/
The extent of the changes to the latest release were very minimal: some transients that were missing expirations; updates to the way X sends rate limiting headers; and removing an @ sign that didn’t belong in a link.
You also seem to be citing two different problems:
- An issue with sending Tweets
- An issue with configuring new accounts.
@joedolson The plugin has worked fine up until the last part of March 2026. That’s the last tweet I see from the X account. Posts are published at most once per day, so I doubt limits are being hit.
It’s only when I’ve updated this plugin and checked the X account, I saw no tweets being published on X.
@supashot is reporting that the documentation needs updating.
But the issue is, posts aren’t working anymore to X. It’s always worked before and nothing has changed except for updating this plugin.
I also reported an issue here about edits publishing tweets to X too:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/update-when-posts-are-edited-ignored/But there’s never been 100+ edits at any time.
Do you have any error logs that indicate anything failing? The specific changes in the most recent version are very unlikely to cause this; but I’d encourage you to try installing the previous version and testing that, to verify that it’s the current release that is causing this. It’s available from the plugin page: https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wp-to-twitter.5.0.6.zip
When I click test status updates from the plugin, it says:
XPoster successfully contacted your URL shortening service. This link should point to your site’s homepage: https://www.domain.com
XPoster failed to submit status updates. That was the issue btw. The developer account just needed credits. I don’t think the free tier exists anymore. It’s pay per usage.
Has this been fixed yet tho? – https://wordpress.org/support/topic/update-when-posts-are-edited-ignored/
Ah, of course they’ve made another change. That’s useful to know; I’ll have to publish an update to reflect that change. I don’t personally use X anymore, so I don’t always catch these changes promptly.
I haven’t been able to reproduce that issue reliably, which has made it challenging to address. In my environments it seems to be a bit random whether or not it fires; but it’s a relatively low-usage feature, so it hasn’t been a top priority. It’s easier for most people to just trigger new updates on the fly in the metabox.
What would change in that update btw?
Another thing, with this plugin when the post is sent to Twitter/X immediately, Twitter/X doesn’t always pick up the OG Image data from Yoast SEO. It’s only after a couple of seconds it does.
So the link shows up as a blank instead of a rich preview.
I think it’s a timing issue between WordPress, Yoast and Twitter/X where the crawler immediately tries to crawl the OG data as soon as the post is published.
Would it be possible to update the plugin so that it doesn’t immediately publish the post to Twitter/X and delay it by 10-20 seconds so everything is in sync when it automatically publishes to Twitter/X?
