Support » Plugin: Shortcodes Ultimate » Latest Post not showing the literal latest post

Odd problem here: We have a the Latest posts shortcode set to show up to 8 posts. There are 3 posts in the category. But only 2 show. So I tried to publish a random test post to it. Now the missing 3rd post appears but the new latest still does not.
Say one is dated 2019 and that does not show.
The next two are 2018 and 2017 and those do show.

The strangest thing is when I test putting in the shortcode fresh, the shortcode preview show the correct number (3 before I did the test post, 4 after) But when we preview the page and hit publish it doesn’t still is missing that real latest post.

What could be causing this? How do we fix it? We do not have any caching plugins installed to cause it.

    The code is [su_posts posts_per_page=”8″ tax_term=”94″ order=”desc”]

    Hi @starhorsepax2,

try to disable all plugins (except SU) and switch the theme to any default (Twenty Sixteen/Seventeen etc.). Then test the shortcode again.

Checking in. Working on disabling plugins and all..but this is a live site and its big. Duplicating to put it on a dev site so I can test is proving more challenging then normal. 🙁

Oh. NO. If I switch to the Default theme on the Dev site it works. This is VERY bad news. This is a highly custom theme built by a previous developer of the site. I can’t just buy an update. Can you give me a clue what default code has obviously been hacked or left out so that I may correct it?

There are many places to break something. I can’t give you advice.
