latest jquery problem with 3rd party plugin and 4.5 update

As always love the theme.

I am using a 3rd party premium form builder called ezform calculator and it worked very well with this theme, however, the plugin author did an update and posted this announcement

“If you recently updated to version 4.5 of WordPress (or higher) and ez Form Calculator stops working, you need to update your theme to the latest version. The WordPress core uses a newer jQuery version and many themes didn’t prepare for this.”

Suffice to say my form is not working the way it worked previously. Is there some truth in this before I contact the plugin author?
