Latest Comment Widget – Change Date Format

I have installed the widget “Latest Comments”. Unfortunately, the date is backwards on the front page which can be seen at http://www.overthemound.com

Is there a way I can edit the format so that is goes M/D/Y?

The only settings I see when I go to the Design/Widgets page are Title, number of messages, and forums to inspect.
