• The last update completely destroyed the site like many others. All attempts to fix it have come to nothing. All the advice of the authors of the topic – and links – are more like unsubscribes. At least it would be nice to write a manual – what to do – to thousands of users. What and where to change. What changes to make to a child theme. Complete chaos. Redo the theme? What to do? It is impossible to leave a working site in this form. You can’t even show it. I understand that the theme is free – but there must be some sane instructions for migration.

  • I was in the same situation, don’t have the time to put my hands in CSS etc it’s a big loss of time. Do a roll back. It’s easy, you have to install “WPRollback” and back your theme to 2.1.8.

    Hi @dashamiro, @xavbrdef,

Our intention behind the update was to incorporate the latest technology and enhance compatibility with other resources. However, we acknowledge that it has affected the customization of your site. If you have not customized the theme and relied on the default features, you would greatly benefit from the update. For more details about update, please check this link https://docs.themegrill.com/colormag/docs/all-about-colormag-free-v3-0-and-colormag-pro-v4-0-major-updates.

Since you have made changes to your theme with the custom design code, the latest update contains different classes. We recommend you change and write the custom code again to customize the theme. If you are unable to do so, please provide us with the requirement for the custom CSS code with a screenshot of your sections that needs to be modified. We will look into it and get back to you with the appropriate solution.

For default layout loading issues, we recommend you check this documentation https://docs.themegrill.com/colormag/docs/troubleshooting-common-issues-after-colormag-v3-0-pro-v4-0-updates.

Also, you will need to restore your few settings and layout. So, we recommend you check our new settings and configure them according to your needs. Please check this documentation https://docs.themegrill.com/colormag/new-colormag-documentation/ and check the customizer settings.

    Regards

I’m actually having similar issues with the theme as it’s scrambled a lot of widgets on my homepage from view

Currently operating with the 2.3.2 version and haven’t had an update for a long time. Is there a way of fixing this?

Yes, of course, I rolled back. And just a rollback – it helped but not quite – the catastrophe with the menu remained. Only restore from a copy. I don’t even know when to turn all this into a live site. It’s a shame for this topic for a very long time 7 years. And always the updates went well (with rare little things). I understand that there comes a point when updates become impossible for various reasons that you can’t handle. This is due to an important plugin. But it’s because of Theme this is the first time. (I don’t understand why change – Class and ID name. Probably so that users would not be bored.)

I took a video – can you tell me something. First, the appearance before the update, then after.
    Children’s theme.
    Of the obvious problems:
    1) Menu
    2) The appearance of the cap
    3) The background color does not change
    4) Markup – Sidebar!!!
    5) Post Lightbox
    6) Styles from a child theme are not displayed

Looks like you need to start over. Or do not touch anything – which is easier.

    Yes, sure.

But I think the only way is to create a new child theme for the СolorMag 3 theme and prescribe everything again. If you can give me an easier way, that would be great.

    Hi @dashamiro,

    Thanks for the site,

You don’t need to create a new child theme again. You can modify the function name, CSS Class name, ID’s checking with the new version of the theme. If you want more information on this please contact us via the live chat support here: https://www.themegrill.com/ and our team will get back to you.

    Regards
