When I publish my article, the tweet is no more sent on X. I have the message “Two many requests”. I don’t understand why I get this message and the status 429.

For the information, I publish about one article every hour.

  • I can confirm. They updated their API to V2 and for free users it’s now 500 posts per month.

I did try to create a new account and it was able to post 1 article to the account. After that 429 too many requests.

My guess is that XPoster needs to update to V2 API specs?

Update: It’s working again (for me). Must have been a hickup at their end as I didn’t change a thing since my previous post.

Thanks for the update. I will try later today to see if it’s working for me

Unfortunately, I got the same 429 message again after I hit 10 posts. It seems there is a rate limit now. 🙁

Might be enough for most people but not if you run a non-profit newssite and something big is happening. Too bad 🤷‍♂️

For the moment it is still working for me after 15 posts

I’m going to monitor it for a couple of days see what the average is and report back. For now I’m still 429’ed 😉

The API rate limits on the free accounts are up to 50 requests every 24 hours, with a 30-day limit of 1500.

The catch is that this is a *total* API request limit, which means that if you’re uploading images, that’s an extra request; if you’re connecting and reconnecting, that’s another; if you’re using X to log-in to other services, those are additional API requests.

There really isn’t much I can do about that.

These are the limits I had in minds, and we don’t reach them : 20 to 30 posts each day, which means less than 1000 a month. We don’t use anything else, dont connect or reconnect, nothing more than send a post each time we publish an article.

We are using the plugin for a long time, nothing has changed on our website for months and since the end of last week we encounter this problem.

I thought it was solved, but two hours ago the problem was back

@davidtt2305 New limit for creating tweets is 17 requests per day (500 per month)

    Thanks @rob006

Could you tell me if this limit comes from X/twitter or from the free version of the plugin ?

@davidtt2305 These are Twitter API limits. My screenshot shows respective limits for Pro, Basic and Free tier. They changed these limits last week (previously you had 50 requests per day in free tier): https://devcommunity.x.com/t/upcoming-updates-to-the-self-serve-x-api/227668

@rob006 Apparently they haven’t updated all of their documentation yet; thanks for sharing that. I guess it’s gone down – no real surprise. They really don’t want it to be useful at the free tier.

Thanks a lot for your help. I guess we will have to send some tweets manually…

I guess I’m going to close this issue as resolved, since it’s caused by an API limit change, and there’s really nothing I can do about it.
