Last Mod Date in XML Sitemap - Google Webmaster Errors (8 posts)

    Hi,

    Great plugin Yoast.

Since the last update Version 1.5.2.2 I noticed that the sitemap is missing last modified date on the sitemap_index.xml page for each of the tag files e.g. post_tag-sitemap1.xml.

Then Google Webmaster is throwing errors:

    An invalid date was found.

    From Google WM:
Please fix the date or formatting before resubmitting.

    Parent tag: sitemap
    Tag: lastmod

I deactivated all plugins and switched site to Twenty Fourteen theme and unchecked and rechecked the box in the SEO plugin: Check this box to enable XML sitemap functionality.

To recreate the files. The problem still exists.

I hope this is clear, if not get back to me.

Yes I too found last that the sitemap is missing last modified date on the sitemap_index.xml page for each of the tag files...

I gave up with the WP site map. It broke a few versions back for me so I have been using BWP Google XML Sitemaps and it works perfectly.

I am getting the same errors in Google Webmaster tools. Using a custom Hybrid theme and latest version of Yoast SEO. I tried using a different sitemap plugin and traffic declined significantly. The error reads as follows:

"An invalid date was found. Please fix the date or formatting before resubmitting."
    Parent tag: sitemap
    Tag: lastmod
    Line: 17

    Parent tag: sitemap
    Tag: lastmod
    Line: 21

Fixed by checking exclude post type:

    Tags (post_tag)

Excluding tags can affect your search results. I downgraded to 1.5.2.7 where this problem doesn't exist. Not ideal as I am missing a lot of changes since this old update. But it works.
