  • One of the things that really annoys me, even though I’m sure it’s pretty minor in the grand scheme of things, is the fact that the URL you get when you click on the title of my blog does not have the final / in it. I’ve tried putting the URI in the Options->General->WordPress address (URI) and Blog address (URI) with a trailing slash, but it immediately takes it out.

By stripping off that final URI, it means that anybody who uses that link to get to my blog gets an unnecessary second HTTP transaction, because when their web browser does a “GET /blogs/pt” it responds with a redirection to /blogs/pt/, and then their web browser has to do a “GET /blogs/pt/” before they get the page.

  • Not the best fix, but go into the footer.php file for the default theme (wp-content/themes/default/), locate the <div id="headerimg"> section at the end, and where it has this:

    <h1><a href="<?php echo get_settings('home'); ?>"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1>

    change it to:

    <h1><a href="<?php echo get_settings('home'); ?>/"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1>

Note the slash after <?php echo get_settings('home'); ?>
