    Hi,
    My WP website (www.timw.com) seems to display a large area of white space before content is shown. I can’t seem to work out what could be causing it. Any help please?

    You have over 20 XHTML Validation errors. These are the number 1 reason things don’t look right in either IE or Firefox.

    http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.timw.com%2F

    Try fixing these and see if it helps.

    I’ve tried to clean up as many as psosible – ignoring the ones to do with embed. I still have the problem though… any other ideas ? 🙁

    Not to muddy up this thread but…

    kill the embed, you do not need it
    its NOT a standard tag, its a holdover from Netscape (version: Long Ago).

    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-4008517364240500716" width="400" height="325">
    <param name="movie" value="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-4008517364240500716" />
    </object>

    is all you need.

    Anyway, tried killing embed, followed

    Still unable to validate etc….

    Edit: Also replaced with code you provided… Still have problems! 🙁

    Alright, got it fixed. Was a problem with CSS!

    I’m also having a Flash issue. What was the CSS problem? Maybe my theme has a similar issue.
