  • Yeah those are temp files – the backup process might not be getting completed. This could be due to lack of storage space or the process might be timing out.

The plugin author commented here – http://wordpress.org/support/topic/issue-with-complete-backup?replies=3

Except each z file (measured in the gigagbytes, and is averaging about 3.3G) stays in the backup file, and then the next full backup of BackupWordpress saves the z file from before, then times out, then creates a new z temp file, and so on. But if the home directory is more than 4G (and the wp-content folder with all these backups is in the home directory), the hosting company will not make a weekly backup, because all the z (temp) backups are adding 25G to the home directory! I have plenty of storage space, but a max file backup of 4G and a PHP cap time of 30 seconds. It’s like a huge snowball getting bigger and bigger.

Those should be cleaned up by the zip process, I’d suggest excluding some files to make the backup smaller, that might allow the zip process to finish properly.

could you send an email to support@hmn.md if you’re still having issues?

    thanks

I just removed the plugin on all my sites and am using updraft plus now so I can back up offsite.

thanks for letting me know. I’ll close this thread.
Offsite backups are coming as premium addons soon, just in case.

Or, I can use a free plugin that lets me back up to DropBox, etc. and not pay a premium.
