    Hi Tobias,

This is a follow-up to the earlier thread on “Large Numbers of Large Tables.”

I opened this fresh thread, since I noticed that the prior one was already marked as resolved.

I thought of an alternative, and would like your opinion if this would work with TablePress.

Since 99% of the tables are identical, i.e., same column headings, same # of columns, etc., have an index column for the table no., but literally then there would be millions of rows in the same table.

Would TablePress be able to work with that?

    Thanks,

    ganaxi

    Hi,

no worries about the thread being marked “resolved” 🙂 You can still post to it (you could also “unresolve” it).

Here’s my reply from the other thread again:

No, that also would not really be a feasible solution. A table with millions of rows will cause even more problems than many tables, I’m afraid.

However, as your tables have this structure, this should be a good starting point for creating a real mySQL database table for this, which can handle millions of rows easily.

    Tobias

    Hi,

    Thanks Tobias.

And I am assuming here that TablePress cannot work directly with mySQL (inferred from other threads, since TablePress is based on Posts?), so I would have to look for another (maybe custom) solution for this, right?

Thanks again for a great plugin.

    Hi,

correct, TablePress uses a Custom Post Type where it stores the table (two-dimensional array as a JSON-encoded string).

It can not use mySQL tables as the data storage, unfortunately.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    sure, no problem!
