    can I know what translation plugin are you using? eg. wpml, qtranslate

    I use none – the website is in Norwegian and the wp-admin is in English.

    The only thing I need to translate is the dates. I.e. I need the Norwegian “mandag” instead of “Monday” and “mai” instead of “May”.

    BTW, I use the following code to display the events, if that has any significance:

    <?php echo do_shortcode('
    [events_list_grouped date_format="F" limit="20"]
    <ul>
    	<li>
    		<span>#_{D}</span> <span>#_{j}</span> <span>#_{F}</span>
      	<div>#_EVENTLINK</div>
      </li>
    </ul>
    [/events_list_grouped]
    '); ?>

    Try adding a snippet like this to the functions.php page of your theme, changing the Monday / mandag part as needed:

    function my_em_text_rewrites($translation, $orig, $domain) {
    	str_replace('Monday','mandag', $translation);
    	return $translation;
    }
    add_action ( 'gettext', 'my_em_text_rewrites', 1, 3 );

    Thanks. I tried it out, but didn’t seem to work though.

    sorry for the confusion but can I know what do you mean by

    >>>
    the website is in Norwegian and the wp-admin is in English.
    <<<

    Are you using wordpress localize in your language?

    I just use a regular English WordPress, and need to translate days and months to Norwegian – nothing more.

    Can you tell us exactly which items on what pages you need to translate? Thanks.

    Sorry if I’m not clear enough.

    I need to translate the dates generated by this shortcode [events_list_grouped date_format="F" limit="20"] and #_{D j F} (used on a page).

    Currently this code generates “Fri 3 October”, but I need it to say “Fre 3 oktober”. Also, this shortcode groups the dates by months, with the months becoming headers, so I need those to be translated too.

    I see now, however I think this is more of a wordpress mods since EM is using date_i18n to localize date – http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/date_i18n

    But you can still use other wp plugins which enables translation.
