In some countries like Germany there are two locales with slightly different translations.
The standard ‘de_DE’ and a more formal translation ‘de_DE_formal’.
In Business most companies use the formal language so most of the shops use a wordpress install with the ‘de_DE_formal’ translation.
Your plugin brings a ‘de_DE’ translation – but no fall back option from ‘de_DE_formal’ to ‘de_DE’.
Unfortunately the fall back option is english.
Usually Plugins bring a mapping table for the locales -> makes things easier.
