 * WP Mail SMTP includes multiple built-in translations. This means that if your
   WordPress site uses, for instance, the Spanish language, our plugin will be translated
   as such automatically.

 * my installation still does not switch to German … But I have other WordPress 
   web, where the installation switched to German.

 * It sounds like the translations may not have downloaded for you. When you get
   a moment, check your updates to see if you have any translations updates available.
