  • Best way to do it is with Javascript I’m afraid. It doesn’t make sense to not cache pages for visitors who come from search engines because that’s likely to be the majority of a site’s traffic.

    Well, that depends on the site. I run a community with less then 10% of the traffic coming from search engines, and another site with medical information receiving more than 90% of its traffic from Google.

    In addition, caching a few pages should be better than caching none of them.

    What would your JavaScript solution look like?

    The Javascript would basicaly check the referrer and if it matched a predetermined site then display the landing message. Basically you’ll be rewriting landing-sites.
