• I am completely new to WordPress and have been working with Themify to create my blog. Everything works fine so far until I tried making a landing page. The background picture of my landing page doesn’t show most of the time. I let friends try and use other devices at home which will usually show a white background instead of the background. If I use the browser which I am editing the blog it does show (I assume it has to do with the buffer). Anyone any ideas?

    Much appreciated!

  • Hi, I tried opening the website but get a 502 Error – Bad Gateway.

I was going to ask about the size of the background image perhaps it is too large? are you using a png or a jpg? Depending on the type of background you are using, you can optimize it so it is not too large in bytes, and loads quickly. Perhaps that is why it sometimes it shows and sometimes not.

Hey thanks for the reply. I actually resized it already to a mere 195kb. It shouldn’t be the size. I cannot reconstruct the BAD GATEWAY error, though. All machines will open the website, however only some will show the background image. Maybe interesting to know as well: If no background image is shown, the text (and button) will move to the top of the screen. Any other ideas?

Loads fine for me in Chrome.

In FireFox and with Edge there is about a 1 second delay in the image loading but it does load.

Hmm, well that is good news of course 🙂 Maybe there was a fix after the wordpress update. I will keep observing. Thanks for the feedback!
