LAN installation -- no formatting except on localhost (3 posts)

Installed WP on a win7 machine on my LAN, under current release of XAMPP, in hopes of being able to do off-net tests of a site I'm developing. Content looks and acts right on that machine. But when accessed from other machines on the LAN, the front page shows just plain HTML, and off-page links fail because they have URLs with /localhost/ in them.

Is this fixable? I understand it might not be a WP problem per se, however the web pages that came with XAMPP work normally from anywhere on the LAN (it is set up to deny requests from the WAN).

    Thanks, kitpksiri.

It didn't take me too long to figure out that I needed to put the external name of my host in the WP settings instead of 'localhost'. But I'm glad I wasn't the first newbie to hit this snag.
