Support » Plugin: WooPayments: Integrated WooCommerce Payments » Lacking basic functionality

  • There is no way to match the transactions you receive in your bank account with the deposits shown in the backend. The reference appearing in your bank account is random and does nott give you any clue to which payment it is linked to. So you need to “guess” by date and amount (that´s what support suggested) which payment may match.

This is so incredibly unprofessional, I don´t have any words for that. What bothers me the most is that I now need to look for a different solution and put a lot of work into integrating another payment solution, just because of the lack of what I would consider one of the most basic features.

    Hi there @klexl!

Surfacing a Deposit ID number in the Deposits Tab is a really great Feature Request: thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback!

For now, Deposits are broken down by date in the Payments Deposits Tab, as you see here: https://d.pr/i/bo2PsK

Additionally, clicking on any deposit in the list gives you a detailed breakdown of all transactions that made up that Deposit, as well as the date that the Deposit arrived in your Bank Account: https://d.pr/i/IA9JA5

    I hope this helps!

    Dear Corey,

I am writing to follow up on my previous communications also in the forum regarding the critical need for a feature in WooPayments that allows merchants to easily match bank deposits with transactions. This is not just a convenience issue but a significant regulatory compliance concern, especially within the European Union.

While I appreciate your previous response and suggestions, they unfortunately do not address the core of the problem. The ability to match deposits to transactions is not just a ‘nice-to-have’ feature but a necessary tool for accurate accounting and regulatory adherence. Without it, businesses like mine face potential compliance risks.

I urge the WooPayments team to prioritize this feature, considering its importance for EU merchants. It’s crucial for us to have a clear, straightforward way to correlate transactions in our WooCommerce dashboard with the corresponding entries in our bank statements.

I also want to point out that the lack of this feature might not only affect current users but could also deter potential customers who require such functionality for their businesses. I believe that addressing this issue would significantly enhance WooPayments’ value proposition in the European market.

As a loyal user of WooPayments, I hope my feedback is taken seriously, and I look forward to a more detailed response on how WooPayments plans to address this issue. If there are any interim solutions or workarounds that you could recommend while a more permanent solution is developed, I would be grateful to hear about them.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.

    Best regards,
    Alex

    Hi there Alex!

Thank you again for this thorough feedback!

We support thousands of Merchant throughout the EU, EEA, and the UK, so I can assure you that your feedback in this matter is taken seriously!

In the meantime, our EU Merchants have had success using the Deposits Page in the WordPress Admin Dashboard to reconcile their transactions, or downloading the full list of transactions by clicking the “Download” button on the Payments > Transactions page, which generates a CSV of all Transactions.

    I hope this helps!

    Hello Corey,

This does not help – if amounts are the same there is no way to match a deposit from WooPayments with a transaction. It is still guesswork, because the date can differ from bank to bank. How do you make up the “reference” i find on the bank statment? Why not display this reference on the deposits page, so that I know which deposit matches the transaction on my bank statement?

    Hi there Alex!

I can absolutely see how this could cause some confusion.

Our teams are investigating some different ideas for implementing this Feature Request; I can’t give an ETA for when this may be implemented, but I’m confident we’ll see some changes here.

Thank you again for providing this in-depth feedback: it’s highly appreciated! 🙂
