Thanks for your question (it’s good one). Currently Kinetic Posts only pulls actual content to generate the excerpt with your chosen limit, and it doesn’t use the excerpt itself.
But your issue made us question the way we incorporate the excerpt output. We will definitely update this with the next release, which will automatically pull your excerpt instead of content trimming if you have excerpt added.
So it’s fair to say you can expect a fix for this in the coming release.

On another note, any plans to simplify/unify the mobile and tablet styling/options across all blocks? At the moment they seem a little “disconnected” ie some blocks have options while others don’t, the options appear in different places depending on the block, some options disappear completely depending on an option selected in a completely different spot/block etc.
Looking forward to the Kioken theme as well 🙂

As for CSS, we’re still exploring the methods to generate the styles for blocks for better speed and customizability. Not very soon, but within one of the coming major releases we are hoping to centralize the style output.

Update: Kinetic Posts will now show the excerpt if entered, and if not entered will pull from the actual post content.
The fix will be with the next plugin update.
