# Killing the “Uncategorized” Default…

 * The “Uncategorized” category seems to be checked by default which leads many 
   authors to forget to un-check it while they add another category.
 * Is there a way to get rid of that category alltogether? Shouldn’t “uncategorized”
   only happen if nothing is checked?

 * You can not remove that category but you can rename it and assign your desired
   posts.

 * And I believe you can asign another category as default. But the default will
   only be checked if a post is saved without a category selected.
