This plugin added 2.5 seconds to my website’s load time. On every page load! On a Fiber internet connection.

I am sorry to hear that – but I doubt that it is only caused by Timed Content. I use the plugin myself on several websites and there is no load time increment at all. Also see for example:

I tested these pages with https://tools.pingdom.com and they load in less than 0.5 seconds from Germany where the server is hosted.

So maybe there is another problem with your setup and Timed Content just shows this problem now (slow database, memory issues, outdated PHP version etc.).
