    Hi guys,

Does this plugin allow me to create Kickstarter-style campaigns, where users can select different reward packages? I didn’t see anything like that in the video or screenshots.

    Thanks!

  • Also, is there any way to charge tax, and get VAT reports? That would also be required if there were rewards involved.

    Hi @menathor,

Happy to clarify, here. The short answer to “can you make it like kickstarter?” is “yes, with some caveats.”

The biggest thing that not possible with GiveWP as it relates to Kickstarter is the VAT/tax implications which you could definitely handle with a custom add-on but we don’t have anything like that.

The other thing that would be tough to replicate from KS is the “pledge and only get charged if the goal is reached” functionality of kickstarter.

But aside from those two things, here’s how I’d go about mimicking Kickstarter functionality. It requires re-thinking “Donation Forms” as “Reward Levels.” So create a form for each level, with “number of donor” goals for each one. Then you could create a Page on the site for the “Campaign” (for lack of a better word… It’s essentially a group of Forms all related to the same Campaign) and then on that page you can have a Form Grid to display each reward level.

For the shortcode/classic editor implementation of the form grid, see this documentation: https://givewp.com/documentation/core/shortcodes/give_form_grid/

For the new block-based editor implementation: https://givewp.com/documentation/core/blocks/form-grid-block/

Another great tool to use on that “Campaign” page would be the [give_totals] shortcode, which allows you to tally an overall goal for multiple forms.

Refer to our documentation explaining all of Give’s shortcodes: https://givewp.com/documentation/core/shortcodes/

It would take a bit of creativity for sure, but it can definitely be done (minus the two caveats at the beginning).

Thanks for the question. Made me have to work my brain out a little!
