 * As far as keywords go, what is a good number of relevant keywords to have in
   order to come up in searches? Is less more? How vague should these terms be and/
   or should they be limited to single words? We have a list of popular words and
   phrases according to our site usage and analytics as well as the post that receive
   the most clicks, should we be using these in page text or in metatags?

 * If you need help with SEO content / copywriting, there’s plenty of resources
   online to assist (try [http://seo-hacker.com](http://seo-hacker.com) or, to keep
   their name up, MOZ).
 * I recommend no meta tags. Keywords in a heading and your slug. The rest is the
   great art of on-page SEO :). …Write naturally. Be informative. Keywords will
   work themselves in.

 * Great advice, though would disagree with the no meta tags part. Title tags are
   still very very much used by Google, as are meta descriptions.

 * [@sean](https://wordpress.org/support/users/sean/) Vandenberg: Thanks for the
   mention!
 * [@lauren](https://wordpress.org/support/users/lauren/): Yep definitely read a
   lot on SEO before testing out different strategies. Some of the ‘older’ SEO strategies
   don’t work anymore. In fact, they may even be harmful.

 * Thanks Colin and Sean for the links! I actually handle the less techy side of
   the website but am trying to familiarize myself with the basics of SEO to help
   us determine what we can do ourselves and what we should outsource to a professional.
   Meta tags are something we can probably do ourselves (as long as we do them right!).

 * [@colin](https://wordpress.org/support/users/colin/) McDermott – I meant only
   use Title Tags and Meta Descriptions. Don’t use META TAGS, which are different.–

 * @ Colin – *Sheepish grin* …I meant to not use META KEYWORD TAGS. 🙂
