Keeping a Blog out of Google, MSN, Yahoo and Alexa

    Hi Folks,
I am sharing some start-up information with some colleagues and I’d like to find a way to keep the content out of all search engines, and out of any pinging services like technorati. If I password protect the site through my ISP, does that project me enough? I just don’t to get in trouble for letting out any new product concepts, but we would love to use WordPress to progress our ideas.

So in a nutshell (2 parts):
No search engine indexing (I’ll create robots.txt file to start)
And can I have list of things I can do in the ADMIN interface to make sure no pinging, or feed services are enabled?

Thanks so much for any help. I really enjoy WordPress and I would love to use it in a fashion that keeps my competitors eyes in the dark.

    Sincerely,
    DM

  • Be sure you delete “rpc.pingomatic.com” from the list of ping services, and uncheck the appropriate box, in wp-admin/options – it’s a couple of different tabs there, I’ve got a server problem so can’t access my own blogs right now to get the specifics for you….

Thank you very much vkaryl! I’ll get going on that. If you can see any other items for me to do later when you can access your own blogs, I would truely appreciate it.

    Cheers,
    DM

I’ll take a look in a bit, got the techs on the problem right now. One thing you might want to do would be to NOT put this blog into a folder named “wordpress” or any derivative thereof.
