  • Resolved nfreed

I’m trying to authorize UpdraftPlus for use with GoogleDrive.

I’ve been through the instructions a bunch of times, and have deleted and re-entered my Client ID and Client Secret in attempting to re-authorize the app close to a dozen times.

When I follow the Note at the bottom of this page:

and click on the Advanced link to authorize my website, I get:

    Access forbidden!
You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server.
If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
    Error 403

As others have pointed out, the Allow Risky Access Permissions By Unreviewed Apps’ Google group seems to be closed to new members.

    Please advise.

This whole thing is absurd, because I was able to authorize another third-party app to access Gmail successfully a few weeks ago.

In addition, creating this API auth seems to have not only screwed my internet access, generally and more specifically for Gmail (long connection times, Gmail fails to connect and/or gives me a “No Internet connection” message on first page load, only reconnects on second and/or subsequent tries), but it also seems to have screwed up another working and critical API auth for another app under a different Gmail address. Can someone PLEASE take a look at this?

I’ve also set up UpdraftPlus with Dropbox, and while the auth was performed successfully, now it’s erroring every time it attempts a backup (it’s tried 5 times already). I’m about ready to dump UpdraftPlus for another backup method; this is absurd.

A 403 error code is usually caused by a firewall on the receiving site’s server blocking the connection. You will need to ask your hosts if this is the case and to allow the connection.

Can you also provide us a copy of the backup when using Dropbox as your remote storage please?

    Kind Regards,
