What user name have you provided as an input to the plugin? Make sure that it is just your user name, and not the full SmugMug URL of your profile.

Thank you, that worked. However, I want to show only the images that are on that page, is that a folder or an album? How do I filter that?

Not following you. On your page I am currently seeing photos from a single album. What is it that you are wishing to do?

    (@toodles53562)

No, it isn’t. I am trying to display photos from one of her pages on smug mug. I think she may have manually entered them on the page, so probably not possible?

Also, how do I get rid of that one random image at the top left with the text beside it.

One more question, how do you change the size of the thumbnails?

    (@sayontan)

No, it isn’t. I am trying to display photos from one of her pages on smug mug.

Sorry, I am having some difficulty understanding you. When I visited the URL you had provided (https://ohshootphotos.com/family-portfolio/), I was seeing one album, “Kurth family photos”, with 42 photos. At present I see that you have changed the listing to show a collection albums for the user.

Based on the data on your site I guess you are trying to set up a gallery for https://ohshoot.smugmug.com. Are you trying to show the images that are in the slider at the top of the page? Those images are not accessible via any method in the SmugMug API (basically they fall under an area of SmugMug that is not exposed via any API).

Please let me know if I have misunderstood your requirement.

Also, how do I get rid of that one random image at the top left with the text beside it.

There are some global settings under Photonic → Settings → SmugMug → Photos (Main Page) – you will see options to hide the album thumbnail, title and photo count. This can also be controlled for each gallery individually. After you have selected your layout in the gallery builder, there is an option “Show Header”, where you can pick how you want the header to appear.

One more question, how do you change the size of the thumbnails?

Same as the previous response – there is a global setting under Photonic → Settings → SmugMug → SmugMug Settings. You can define what sizes you want to pick. The “Thumbnail size” is the one you are looking for. Again, this is something you can control for individual galleries – the option shows up in the gallery builder after you have picked your layout.

Thank you! This has helped significantly! Nice plugin!

One more issue I am running in to is that all of the “albums” are not appearing on my WordPress site. I click the “load more” button and the little “cog” just keeps turning, like it’s processing, but it doesn’t propagate.

I have tried moving things around in Smug Mug so the images I want appear at the top of the page, but that isn’t working either. Any suggestions?

Can you let me know precisely what shortcode you have in place and are trying to troubleshoot?

Also, at a high-level what is it that you are trying to display? A collection of albums? All albums? Folders?

Do you have any private albums? Any password-protected albums?

The reason I ask is because a lot of things on your site are not behaving the way they should. E.g. the “Random justified grid” layout never yields a layout that is not a justified grid, but in your case I am seeing images of irregular sizes, and a grid that is not justified. This sort of behaviour is caused by JS errors (same with the “More” button not loading anything more), but I am not seeing any JS errors. I am also seeing some blank thumbnails (e.g. the very first one).

Do you have any lazy-loading plugins? Any other layout plugins?

I am trying to display this gallery on my site
    https://ohshoot.smugmug.com/Galleries/Babies/Baby-Photo-Portfolio/
I am not putting in any shortcode, I am using the Plugin in the Blocks section.

I try to find the album using the Phototonic plugin and I can’t find the particular album. So, I hit Load more and it doesn’t load anymore.

Yes, I do have private albums and password protected albums, but this is not password protected.

No lazy loading plugins. And it’s loading really slow too. Which page are you looking at where you see images of irregular size and a grid that is not justified?

Which page are you looking at where you see images of irregular size and a grid that is not justified?

The only information I have available is this link: https://ohshootphotos.com/family-portfolio/. If you take a look at the grid there, you will see gaps and a misaligned grid. If you are not seeing any issues let me know and I can send across a screenshot of what I am seeing.

In the context of your previous post I assumed that the above link is the one you are having trouble with.

I am not putting in any shortcode, I am using the Plugin in the Blocks section.

At the last step of the block generation there is a summarization of the block, and it tells you what the equivalent shortcode will be. Can you provide that?

I try to find the album using the Phototonic plugin and I can’t find the particular album. So, I hit Load more and it doesn’t load anymore.

The plugin’s name is “Photonic”, not “Phototonic” 🙂

So you are facing an issue in the back-end, while building your gallery? If that is the case it is symptomatic of a JavaScript conflict with a different plugin or your theme. You have 3 alternatives if you are facing this issue:

    1. If the page you are working with is not really reliant on Gutenberg, and if you have the ability to use the Classic Editor, try using the gallery builder in the “Text” mode of the Classic Editor. It is the same UI as the Gutenberg block-builder, and the only difference is in what is generated at the end of it.
    2. Alternatively go to your dashboard, and navigate to Photonic → Helpers. You will see an option to list all your albums there. Hopefully the “More” button will work there.
    3. If that doesn’t work, the alternative is a bit hacky. You can go to https://api.smugmug.com/api/v2/user/ohshoot!albums?count=200 to list out all your albums there, then search by the album name.

The forum rules here forbid posters from asking / providing email addresses, so I cannot troubleshoot your site’s back-end to find where you have a conflict, but in case you see endless spinning wheels in the back-end you could also tell me what errors you are seeing in the JavaScript Console (Ctrl + Shift + I in Chrome)?

However, one thing concerns me. I am obviously not an authenticated user for your SmugMug account, and when I pass “ohshoot” as the user name, I am presented with 84 albums (this list does not include private albums). Now, Photonic can display up to 500 albums from users, and I somehow doubt that you have more than 500 albums even if you include all private albums. So you shouldn’t even be seeing a “More” button while creating a gallery. Here’s the other thing: if you look at the gallery builder, in the screen where you pick your albums you are presented with a “Search” box – if I put in “baby” over there I get the album you have embedded above (“Baby Photo Portfolio”, which is album id MJnsJ9, as can be determined using the methods I have outlined above).

    No lazy loading plugins.

The reason I asked about lazy-loading plugins is because after the gallery loads I see a temporary translucent layer over it before the gallery comes back in focus again. I also saw some interim elements called “placeholders” while your gallery was loading. Those don’t come from Photonic.

And it’s loading really slow too.

Front-end or back-end? If on the front-end, which page?

I have to step out for a couple of hours, but in case you decide to go the shortcode route, the documentation is pretty comprehensive: https://aquoid.com/plugins/photonic/smugmug/smugmug-albums/.

    Thank you,
Having this https://api.smugmug.com/api/v2/user/ohshoot!albums?count=200 is helpful and I’ve just been finding the albums and putting them in there.
I looked at that family page on another browser and see the random photos.
I will try to use the shortcode to see if I can fix it.
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it!

    Hello again,
Thank you for your help yesterday; I have taken out a few photos that were causing the formatting issues and it seems to be displaying nicely now.
My problem now is how long it takes to load. Up to 10 seconds.
Is there anything I can do to resolve that?

    Thank you!
