[jwplayer file= ] no longer working

    I have been using this plugin for years, I had to remove version 6 due to security issues, and now it turns out that 7 no longer accepts the short code [jwplayer file=https://s3.amazonaws.com/{actual path redacted to publish in the forum} ]

    What can I do so I can use the new version and the shortcode works as it should?

    thanks for using our plugin.

    The [jwplayer] short-code comes from the old official JW Player plugin, this software uses instead the [jwp-video] one.

    For backward compatibility we implemented the support of short-codes like [jwplayer e4t57p], where e4t57p is the media ID of the content hosted on JW Player.

    The option file for the old short-code is not supported at the moment, we have a different way to publish self-hosted videos, details here:

    Hey there, from that article, I understand that you have completely removed the option to add self-hosted videos(in our case AWS) on the free version of this plugin? Is that the case? (I would love for you to say it clearly).

    Unfortunately, it is a tool that we have been using for years, for you to suddenly change business model.

    I think there is a little bit of confusion here…

    This is probably the plugin you used in the past, the official one:
    https://github.com/jwplayer/wordpress-plugin

    It is not available on wordpress.org anymore.

    Our software is a completely different solution for using JW Player into WordPress and, just to be clear, we didn’t change any business model: you can publish self-hosted videos even with the free plugin.

    You can’t do it by using the shortcode [jwplayer file=”…”] but this is another story, as said that was a method available with the other plugin, not with the ours.

    Ah, I see, sorry about that.

    So, with the free version of your plugin, there is no way for us to continue using the shortcode that we used in the past and we would need the premium version_ Could you please confirm this_

    that short-code was not supported even by our premium plugin until today.

    We just released the version 2.3.1 that includes what you need, please update and you will be ready to go.
