Support » Plugin: WooCommerce Advanced Free Shipping » Just work for 1 language

  • I installed the superbe plugin but it disappointe me because i have a 3 language site (dutch-french-german) and it’s work just for the first language (dutch), so, I can’t offer the free shipping on conditions for my french and german customers) maybe I have to look out for a plugin who support a multi-language site. It’s a pity…because it’s a plugin with potential.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the review!
If you’re using WPML you should be able to use their native features of translating a post type and it should work accordingly. TBH I haven’t tested it with this plugin, but it does work like that with the other – Advanced Shipping – one, both plugins work very similarly.

In case you’re using another translation plugin – I unfortunately won’t be able to tell about those – I believe many have native features to translate (custom) post types, but I haven’t used them enough to confirm :-/

PS. Thank you for not jumping to a 1-star review immediately because of your hiccup – tells a lot about what kind of person one is 👍

    Hi, Jeroen,
Why should I jump to a 1-star? The fact is your plugin works very well 😊, but for some reason and what I find weird 🤔, by me only in the Dutch section (first language) of my site, if a customer buys € 30.00 or more in a certain category then he gets free shipping but as a customer makes the same order by the French-speaking side of my site, he can not receive a free shipment and the standard rate remains, idem with the third language German 😯.

There’s a lot of people – at least as a plugin developer it feels that way, even if its just 1 in 50 – that jump to 1-star reviews when a specific thing doesn’t work for their exact needs. Getting a 1-star rating on something you’ve created feels heavy for any dev who cares > so just good to also see (and recognize) the other type of people out there 😁

Are you using WPML, or a different translation plugin?

I’m using WPML, I translated already the strings.

And, it’s not because there is a small issue about the plugin the plugin is bad, it’s like a car, if I don’t find the right button that doesn’t mean the car is bad. So, we have to find the right button…🤨

Gotcha – you shouldn’t translate the strings, but instead translate the post type itself.

Here’s a sample showing two free shipping rates for NL and EN; https://cl.ly/0B3u0p343i3L

Should be no problem doing the same for additional languages..

String translation in WPML doesn’t seem to support serialized data properly – which is what the plugin uses.

In the end, I have it, it works incredibly well, maybe you need to place some manual somewhere for those with a multilingual site, you always have to add “advanced free shipping rate” again in the language you want with the conditions you want. This is a super plugin and thanks “Jeroen” (I can pronounce it because I am Flemish) for the support, if I could I gave you 6 stars👏
