Support » Plugin: Index WP MySQL For Speed » Just great

  • I never tend to leave a review, but was compelled this time, first of all, how is this plugin even free? I have used WP Rocket, Redis, and many other plugins to fix my frontend as well as backend but my backend was still laggy, and making any changes from “Quick Edit” will take an eternity, this plugin fixed the issue and my backend is working smoothly so far. Even my frontend is loading faster. Thank you to the devs and request you guys to not let this plugin die.

    Thanks for the kind words!

How is this free? First of all it does precisely one thing: open up the query optimizations in MariaDB and MySQL for use by WordPress site owners. Most paid “performance” plugins do many things. That multiplies their development and testing effort. So they need to pay people. (We could certainly do better testing too, but our only important test-case dimensions are MySQL and WordPress versions.)

Second, it’s a modest green initiative. The nanowatt-hours and milliseconds wasted by inefficient SQL queries add up to a lot with a software package as widely deployed as WordPress. Better searches save power, time, and hardware. Less carbon dioxide emitted. Sea level rises more slowly, hopefully.

Third, we the authors are hoping to convince the WordPress core and performance teams to pay attention to this table indexing issue and make our plugin obsolete. This is intended as a proof of concept to show them it’s possible, as well as a way to help out site owners such as ourselves and you.
