Is anyone else getting irritated by all the unneeded plugins that you feel you need to uninstall after a fresh install of WordPress these days? Used to just be Hello Dolly…but now there’s a much longer list…it’s starting to feel spammy…

Not a huge deal, just annoying. Just wondering if anyone else is annoyed by this?

WordPress installs exactly TWO plugins, akismet and hello dolly. If you’re seeing more, you’re not installing the official download from wordpress.org.

I don’t bother to remove hello dolly, though I don’t activate it. I remove akismet and, if the site uses comments, etc, I use “antispam bee”.

Oh wow! It never occurred to me it might be different via my host! I always install via Host Gator’s one click install option…so clearly THEY are the ones adding all the garbage! Jeez! There’s like 5 or 6 extra plugins in there, including jet pack and some plugin I forget the name that is entirely for selling paid plugins…obnoxious!

Thanks for the heads up! Guess that’s the price I pay for the one click convenience, but it’s irritating.

Glad to know it’s not WordPress! I had no idea!

My host used to install about 8 different plugins on a quick install!

Takes less than a minute to remove them all though.
