• I just changed my permalink structure from

    /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/

    to

    /funny/%postname%/

Mostly for getting rid of the dates and was wondering what i need to add to the .htaccess file to make this redirect happen when google enters my blog. I do not want tons of 404 errors due to this change 🙂

    Blog url: http://meme-lol.com/

    thx

The canonical redirect feature built into WordPress should take care of that automatically for you and you do not have to do anything extra redirection wise.

It’s been in WordPress for a while and just works. 😉

actually it didnt work that well since the only thing i got was 404 errors. but i installed a plugin called “change-permalink-helper” for this that seems to be helping.. i would rather have the changes in the htaccess file instead of a plugin

Do you have a couple of links (old vs new) by example? The .htaccess method isn’t bad but unless you somehow messed with the canonical URLs (SEO plugin?) then /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/ to /funny/%postname%/ just work.
