I love this plugin and all was working fine until now it shows only the first video of 4. It probably coincided with the latest upgrade to WP 4.2.1.
I hate to switch plugins. Any ideas?
I hate to switch plugins too! I’m currently trying to determine where is a problem since nobody post here resolution. Is anybody resolved this error folks?
Sorry for the double post but I also believe it is to do with the latest WordPress update.
Yup, since WordPress takes YT video links and automatically adds <iframe> embed codes it’s screwing up the plugin, since the plugin isn’t able to properly read lines of links.
I’m looking into if there’s a way to disable WP from doing this
Think I got it. Add this to your theme’s functions.php to disable auto embedding:
remove_filter( ‘the_content’, array( $GLOBALS[‘wp_embed’], ‘autoembed’ ), 8 );
That code didn’t work for me. It actually removed the gallery completely. I have created a workaround for now until the plugin is fixed. I created one gallery for each video:
Hope that helps in the meantime!
Will try the code too just in case and have the workaround as backup! Thanks very much!
My issue was a bit different, no videos were showing up at all so it could be a separate problem
I FOUND simple SOLUTION! It’s not “code clean” (because of installing additional plugin) but it’s useful if you want to bring up your videos back.
What works for me on all sites with diferent themes and WP versions:
- Install this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/insert-html-snippet/
- Put your shortcode into it (screenshot here: http://red-beret.com/.share/wp/html-snippet.png)
- Use your new simple shortcode generated by HTML Snippets
IMPORTANT: All YouTube links inside [youtubegallery] needs to be in this way:
If you are using Visual Composer put your shortcode inside “RAW HTML” box (screenshot here: http://red-beret.com/.share/wp/raw-html.png)
Hope it works for you also until better solution comes.
the snippet hack works for now, but it still does not display fetched titles, instead throwing an error : https://youtube.com/devicesupport…
disabling fetch titles worked, but then there’s no titles.
it’s a shame this plugin hasn’t been updated in so long. what are the better alternatives?
I did some digging and found that this plugin is broken on two levels.
- The format of the YouTube oEmbed code has apparently changed
- The YouTube has deprecated its v2 API, which this plugin uses
I fixed the first issue by removing the YouTube link and leaving only the ID inside the shortcode (this will not work out of the box, you ned the patch below).
The second problem was actually easier to fix. I have replaced the old API with the new one. The new one requires an YouTube API key.
In doing the above a broke almost everything else (sorry, no more vimeo support), and I haven’t fixed the youtubeuserfeed shortcode.
The patch you need is here: http://blog.pvalley.info/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/0001-Fixed-the-youtube-gallery.patch
You can find more detailed explanation with some examples on my blog: http://blog.pvalley.info/?p=493
I really hope that the creator of this plugin will restore it to life, but until that …
Hi ShaMan-H_Fel, I do not understand what to change there. – http://blog.pvalley.info/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/0001-Fixed-the-youtube-gallery.patch – the red-marked? Do you have a PHP file that can be downloaded?
This is actually a git patch, which can easily be applied using git. My advice is to get the plugin source, init a git repo and then apply the patch.
If you do not want to do this here are the two changed php files (one is in the root folder, the other is in the inc folder): http://blog.pvalley.info/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ytsg_files.zip
There is also a fix for an issue with the centring of the play button in this version of the files. Do not forget to replace your API key in the shortcode.php.
