Support » Plugin: PowerPress Podcasting plugin by Blubrry » Just A Sales Tool

  • It’s just a sales tool for Bubrry. Adds regular posts rather than a new post type that can be handled separately. So you just have podcast sprinkled in with your regular posts.

NOt sure what they were thinking since they did put some work into it.

If you have another post-type, you can use PowerPress just fine. *Most* podcasters want simple and post-types are confusing to a lot of people. Besides, Podcasting IS blogging, and likely you will be blogging about the same topic as your podcast. Your blog readers will discover your podcast and your podcast listeners will discover your blog posts. But we do have the option of Post-Type podcasting.

    Hey John,

I’ve been using this plugin for several podcasts for several years now (all on self-hosted WordPress sites – NOT through Blubrry’s hosting service). I can tell you it’s a fantastic tool for creating podcast feeds including for custom post types. I’ve got one client website that has 5 separate custom post types all with their own unique podcast feeds setup through the Powerpress plugin. There’s some great documentation on how to use it for custom post types here: https://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/advanced-tools-and-options/post-type-podcasting/

That said, it will not create any new custom post types on your website. You’ll still need to do that yourself using another plugin or custom code in your theme. They do recommend using one of these two plugins that play well with the Powerpress plugin: Custom Post Type UI or Types.
