• Is it only made for those dynamic div layer layouts or are there also templates for good old table + html layouts?

  • well the css competition was held on the condition that the primary index.php file wont be modified. so officially all the templates are css based.
    if u want a table based layout, make 1! who’s stopping u…

these “good old table” are not in the mind of the software, you may be able to change this to whatever you wish btw, because the template is not forced… you can modify everything to your wishes.
btw, this good new css thing is not so easy to deal with, as sure, i’m not a css geek myself, but found easier to deal with that css thing than the tables because i don’t like fixed things.
you can take a look at the CSS imbedder, Dave Shea, here: http://www.mezzoblue.com/zengarden/alldesigns/ … he kinda created a mood for CSS multi-templating, and everyone is looking forward to do the same… that demo page is all the same html page, and you see a list of 200+ different css to drive that same page. same for the demo here:
    http://www.alexking.org/index.php?content=software/wordpress/styles.php
all the styles from the contest related to WP… you can use and modify all these, but keep the ©™ !!

As long as you have the required php calls, you can build your site any way you want (tables, frames, or css+xhtml). There’s no shortage of opinions on why css+xhtml is the preferred method, but it’s by no means a requirement.

Thanks everyone for the replies 🙂 I guess I am just too much used to plain html and table stuff that I am a bit scared to start off with css layouts @_@
