Support » Plugin: JSL3 Facebook Wall Feed » JSL3 Facebook Wall Feed – Don't show how many likes

  • Hello there.

    I’m a very happy user of JSL3 Facebook Wall Feed to WordPress. Been using the plugin on various sites of mine, and of my clients.

    But for some reason, it doesn’t show the number of likes for each Facebook post anymore. Have nothing done to the code or anything.

    Here is 3 examples of websites running the plugin. If you go an test the first post in the Wall Feed, and go and click “Kommentar” (Comment), you will see that there is some like to each post. But the plugin do not show it anymore (in the bottom) (bottom, right sidebar) (bottom, right sidebar)

    Have try:

    Deinstall plugin
    Install it again
    Reset to Default
    Perform thorough wall grab
    Get profile picture.

    Nothing helped 🙁

    I hope somebody can help me. Thanks!

    Best Regards
    Michael Bay

    Unfortunately, Facebook removed the likes count from the feed. I have a temporary fix, but it will only count up to 25 likes.

    1. Open ‘/wp-content/plugins/jsl3-facebook-wall-feed/php/class-uki-facebook-wall-feed.php’
    2. Lines 544 to 545 are the following:
      if ( isset( $fb_feed[ $i ][ 'likes' ][ 'count' ] ) )
      $fb_likes = $fb_feed[ $i ][ 'likes' ][ 'count' ];
    3. Change them to the following:
      if ( isset( $fb_feed[ $i ][ 'likes' ][ 'data' ] ) )
      $fb_likes = count( $fb_feed[ $i ][ 'likes' ][ 'data' ] );
    4. Save the file

    In order to get the actual likes count, Facebook now requires a request be made for each post. I’m worried that doing so will slow down the feed. However, I may give the user the option to do that in the next version of the plugin.

    Ahh Okay. I dont want to make custom codes to all of those websites. I’ll just wait for you to update the plugin 🙂

    But it’s silly from Facebook. to make so many more request. And again. Why change something, that worked very well before. Something to do with big data?

    But thanks for the quick reply! That’s great!
