First, we had some of the widgets on the home page were disabled, then some pages got jumbled. Through some help from the StudioPress support, I installed Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin which solved the problem. After the site settled down, I started doing some troubleshooting. If the plugin is disabled the images do no show in a lightbox overlay but open as new content. If I enable the plugin, which is enabled now, the images display in an overlay. * I tried using different lightbox plugins from our standard Easy Fancybox, which did not make any difference. I have disabled all lightbox plugins and using the built-in Fancybox overlay from NextGEN Other options, Lightbox effects. Currently: 1. There is no additional lightbox plugin 2. The Enable jQuery Migrate Helper is active * so that the site can perform as expected by the visitors. * I wonder if the issue is related to and triggered by NextGEN Gallery. The site is functioning now because I installed the plugin I mentioned. If we can set a time, I can show the non-functional view. I am not asserting that it is a NextGEN problem but asking if there are any related issues to jQuery changes somewhere. The theme developer says there are no issues there. Maybe it is in the WordPress core. After that block, I will also share what I found that may be related but I have no idea how or why.
