JQuery Placeholder & Contact Form 7

I am trying to use the jquery placeholder attribute on the form fields, but when the form generates through the browser, it changes the placeholders to values. Therefore, the value text does not disappear when a form field is selected. Is there a trick around this or another approach I should be taking?
