Support » Fixing WordPress » jQuery broken? can't directly insert media or maps

  • Hey 🙂

So, i’m not sure how, but something broke.
I can no longer insert media from my library to a page. I can select an image, hit ‘insert’ and the pop up goes away, but nothing was put into the page. I can hardcode it into editor by opening up the media file, coping the url, and putting the code in but i have galleries to create and this is a huge pain.

I also noticed that my Google maps are no longer there. I get this error:
“Error: Your version of jQuery is outdated. WP Google Maps requires jQuery version 1.7+ to function correctly. Go to Maps->Settings and check the box that allows you to over-ride your current jQuery to try eliminate this problem.”

i did select the override in maps but that didn’t fix it.

    Anyone know what’s going on?

(P.S. i do not want to update to 3.6 until it is fully debugged)

  • oh! and i don’t know if it is related, but at the same time the aforementioned stopped functioning, my jquery accordion menu stopped working properly. It is permanently fully expanded but is set to only open specific taps when i hover or click

I know what you mean, but i would suggest to consider debugging your theme/plugins.
    From WP 3.6 master list:

Plugins and themes which use their own jQuery without properly compensating for WP’s will break. Again. jQuery was upgraded in 3.6, so even though this should be much less of a problem, please take note. (Plugin and Theme Devs – Please stop using your own version of jquery!)

Oh, thank you 🙂 looks like this is a common issue…

I’m currently using the custom community theme which doesnt really have a style sheet. should i put this code (http://malsup.github.io/jquery.blockUI.js) into custom CSS tab or where?
