Joomla or WordPress?

  • Hi,
We have an information site with sales copy for our main product.

We’d like to replace our current landing page (homepage) with a shopfront-type page in order to be able to sell more than one product at a time. (We want to keep the existing information pages as well).

I’ve seen good reviews for both WordPress and Joomla re web design and CMS software, but don’t know which one to choose – which one would better suit our needs? (Or there might be even better ones I wonder?). Would any of them integrate with x-cart?

Also, I’d like to know what Joomla can do and WordPress cannot and viceversa. A quick reply would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks.

  • joomla has the worst plugin developers i cant find. anywhere. and by worst, I mean they write insecure, crap code.

I cant even count how many entries are on that page, and funny enough, theres a brand new shiny joomla exploit out right this second.

    contrast that, with this:

45 mentionables, and thats going back all the way to 2004.

that site, btw, is a veritable clearing house of easy to use scripts and raw code that anyone can use. Once something makes it onto milw0rm, its in the wild.

I’ve used every blog and CMS software there is and I must say you cannot beat WordPress for ease of use and customization. The only thing that even came close to WordPress for me was, oddly enough, it’s ancestor b2.

b2evolution isnt an ancestor anymore 😛 good lord, did the lights just come on for me, len? do I know you from over there? that would explain the familiarity.

    Yeah I know, it’s a re-write.

No I never hung around that place like I do here.

hmm, k. well I sent off a question anyway, 🙂
