Yes, by default the amount is added as a class name to the row. You can use that to add some styling or content.
See this forum post for an example.
The same post also contains an example on how you can extend the plugin to show the number in the template.

If you just want to show images (1 or more) I guess it can be done with CSS. Background-image and background-repeat on the element. But I’m not an expert in this.
There must be examples on the internet (e.g. when you search for the 1-5 star ratings).
Other option is to use the template extension to output different kind of HTML based on the number, but then you’ll also have to extend the params array. Not only the template.
