• Resolved cclbranding

    Hello,

My client notified my that 3 recent job postings had to be made active in the admin, even though the jobs processed payments through PayPal. They showed up in the admin as Pending Payment. After the PayPal transaction (which they confirmed by going into their PayPal account and showed the funds had been collected), they did not post live to our site.

We have several jobs posted on the site, so it seems to be affected by these most recent ones. Any help is appreciated.

  • Did you uncheck ‘New submissions require admin approval’? It is in Job Listings > Settings.

We don’t require admin approval, so that setting has always been unchecked. I just checked it again and it is still unchecked (seems like if it was checked then it would possibly be causing the problem).

Are you using the PDT, or just IPN? The PDT option would be more reliable than solely relying on IPN which can be blocked by things such as server firewalls.

I went into my PayPal profile and the PDT is already checked as “on.” The identity token below it is also the same one I am using in the settings portions of Paid Listings within my admin panel.

Enable auto-return too – if a user drops off paypal before they return it won’t update the job.

I just checked my profile again. The Auto return feature is already turned on as well.

Could you go through the payment process yourself then? Ensure it returns without error.

I just went through the payment process and the job automatically posted to my website. (Works just fine for me). Just not sure why it will take a payment from PayPal but not post the actual job to my site for others.

They may have closed the window.

Was it you who said they had issues with IPN posting back? I’ll post that update soon.

Seems odd though that 3 different job posters from 3 different locations across the country would have all closed a window. Seems like once PayPal accepts the payment then it’s a done deal and would then post to our site regardless.

Yeah, I was having the IPN issue as well. I think you said the link was missing a slash.

    That update is now live.

Thanks. When I update, does it retain the other changes I have made along the way or do I need to re-apply those?

Also, any other thoughts on the initial question of the 3 post recent posters that successfully paid through PayPal but didn’t post to our actual site? My client is asking so I will need to provide them an explanation or reason.

    Plugin Author Mike Jolley (a11n)

    (@mikejolley)

If you have made changes directly to the plugin’s files, you’ll need to re-apply them.

I cannot provide a reason for the 3 however; it worked for you, so the only thing I can think of which would prevent PDT working would be either:

    1. The payment didn’t clear instantly
    2. The user closed the window before being redirected back

Once you have IPN working, you’ll have a fallback.
