I get this error everytime I log in:

Fatal error: Class ‘Jetpack_Protect_Math_Authenticate’ not found in /home/<deleted>/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/protect.php on line 221

<deleted> part is on purpose, it mentions username. I have 3.4.1 JetPack on my 8 sites, I have latest WordPress on all of them.

Is there a fix or do I just go via FTP to delete jetpack, then go back, install jetpack but not put protect module? Remember I have 8 sites this is affecting.

  • I can confirm this. All of my Jetpack “protected” sites are now protected from even me!

Fatal error: Class ‘Jetpack_Protect_Math_Authenticate’ not found in /home/xxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/protect.php on line 221

These errors you’re all reporting are concerning Jetpack –

I run several sites and can’t afford for them to all go down, or any!

Watching to see if there’s a fix or update for what it being reported.

    Thanks.

I have the same error. Latest version of WP and Jetpack.

I have the same issue. My users are not able to log into their own websites.

Jetpack told me that the newest version fixes the issues and if not, to get back with them. I haven’t had chance to test it out yet – I hesitate to ‘test’ out anything when I have so many sites to care for and so much work to do –

I’ll come back and let you all know when I get a chance to!

Thank you all for the reports. We’re aware of the issue, and are currently looking into it. You can follow our progress here:
    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/1841

I’ll post again here as soon as I have some news.

In the meantime, I’m afraid I can only suggest that you deactivate the Protect module.

Hi Guys, i had the exact same error, im 100% its a conflict with w3 total cache, can we have a show of hands illustrating how many of you use w3 total cache or some caching plugin?

Deactivate caching plugin to gain access again. If you cannot gain access then go to FTP and rename your caching plugin folder name, this will auto disable the plugin.

    No caching plugin.

Can’t even turn Jetpack on to deactivate the Protect Module.

Wow this is concerning. Especially that it’s been so long.

    Waynmeyer: No, on the Caching.

Could you try to activate this small plugin before to reactivate Jetpack, and let me know if it helps?

I went to check out your plugin. Today Protect is working fine. I was able to enable it and whitelist my ip address.

Based on this I did not activate or test your plugin.
    Good news… bad news.

Hi Jeremy Herve Jetpack was acting up today, messing up my admin section for all my writers on TechMyMoney at first I thought it was cloudflare and SEO by Yoast messing with me until I started see this error Fatal error: Class Jetpack_Protect_Math_Authenticate. I don’t use any cache plugin for my wordpress just Cloudflare. I went ahead and deactivated Jetpack and tried to reactivate it but I got more errors trying to login to WordPress.com. I finally found this forum and activated your small plugin, it helped me login to wordpress.com to activate jetpack but gets an error redirecting back to my site. Now I think my writers can login and the editor is no longer messed up.

gets an error redirecting back to my site

Could you tell me more about that error?

Jetpack is still the best plugin, i feel its not jetpack but conflicts other plugins have with jetpack. Jeremy have you worked out at least whats causing the issues for users?

You know what would be really great, is to have a jetpack plugin compatibility list developed by the community. That way we can easily digest which plugins we should stay away from if working with jetpack. I have 42 plugins including jetpack running on shared host with 1.6mb page size with only a 2-3second load time. No special settings or caching. Part of this is because i tested so many plugins until i found the perfect configuration. Most issues come from badly developed plugins, and jetpack my friends is definitely NOT one of them.

Jeremy have you worked out at least whats causing the issues for users?

Yes, and in this case it’s our fault, it’s not caused by any conflict with another plugin. We’ll get this fixed in the next release.

We do our best to make sure Jetpack is compatible with as many plugins as possible, but there are still some quirks with a few plugins. We maintain a list here:

    I hope this helps.
