Jetpack was working… then, NOT!

    I was setting Jetpack up on a site on a site which had not used it for a long time. Everything was going along swimmingly, until I tried “hooking up” Google+ to Publicize. I don’t know if there’s a causal relationship or not, but suddenly Jetpack would no longer work.

    I tried turning all other plugins off, but no joy. Then I tried turning Jetpack on and off. Still, no joy. Then I tried de-stalling and re-installing Jetpack. Nope. I tried it with all plugins off (again) and the basic WP Twenty Twelve theme (as suggested by the Debugging Center) activated in place of the Pagelines theme the site normally uses. That didn’t work either.

    I literally cannot get Jetpack to work at all now – even though it “worked” while I was configuring it, up until the point of trying to hook up Google+.

    In reviewing this forum, I’ve noticed quite a few problems with Publicize. Maybe it’s too finicky in the current version? Or is something else going on?

    Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

    Unfortunately, I can’t.

    I removed Jetpack, since it has functionality that I need. The other plugins I was hoping to remove with the advent of the new and improved Jetpack are re-installed, and the site is back to where it was, plugin wise.

    I may try Jetpack again later, when either a new version of the plugin comes out, or 4.+ of WP. Since it cost me several hours of hair pulling, I’m not going through that nightmare again any time soon.

    I’ll keep you posted of what I discover when I finally try it again. Thanks for taking the time respond, Jeremy. I really appreciate it.

    Well, I’m having problems and I went down all of the trouble-shooting on the secret debug page, but I don’t see a link to “click here to contact Jetpack support” – maybe it was removed because of the post that no support requests will be handled for 10 days?

    It’s very unfortunate timing not to suspend support right when 4.0 comes out. : (

    That’s correct. Support is currently closed, so you can’t contact us via email at the moment.

    It’s very unfortunate timing not to suspend support right when 4.0 comes out.

    We’re still here in the forums, along with other forum volunteers! 🙂 Jetpack does work with WordPress 4.0, the problems you experienced are most likely not related to your version of WordPress.
