    Hello!
I am using the Port theme by Themetrust and trying to use the Jetpack tile mosaic gallery feature.
I have read a tones of the forums, helps, etc.
I still have an issue: the images are not placed correctly in height, and spaces are left.
    What I have tried/done/installed:
    – Jetpack plugin active, tile galleries active, media option “display galleries in cool mosaic bla bla” active
    – Disable Hybrid’s Cleaner Gallery plugin installed.
    – I have found the way to deal with tile gallery width, trough a plugin.Custom Content Width
    – Have deactivated plugins 1 by 1, no changes (I am at the start so don’t have a lot, 4-5 only)
    – All other gallery types do work perfectly (circle, etc)
Added to the screen capture is a link to one of the page with the non working gallery. Some NSFW art nudes http://fabienqueloz.com/full-width/ (It might change depending on when you will answer this topic, a I am working further on building the site)
Thanks a lot for the help..
    Fabien

I believe the problem could be caused by some upload issues because of the size of some of your images. Could you try to create a new gallery, with smaller images, and let me know how it goes?

    Hello Jeremy.
I have tried it already, no changes.
I created again a gallery for you to see, with around 1024 or 1280 images, around 150ko and 72dpi. That’s really creepy, and as a photographer I hope I will be able to provide much better qualities. But lets see first the issue.

Except from this display issue, when using carousel, it is extremely slow (even after I replaced big pictures by real small ones)
I don’t know if that can be a reason. That’s why I changed for a link to file instead of carousel. But now, when opening the picture from the gallery, on the picture, the link given is for example: http://i1.wp.com/fabienqueloz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/AnyaR056.jpg
Why is it opening it from a wordpress location? I don’t want to have wordpress links within my address bar, as I host the files at Justhost.com

    Thanks for help, Jeremy..

There are 3 parameters to consider when defining the size of the images you’ll upload to your site:

    1. The limits your hosting provider puts on the maximum file upload size
    2. The download speed of said images on your server: if Jepack’s Photon module cannot download your images in less than 10 seconds, it will fail to cache and serve an optimized version of the image.
    3. Your readers’ browser and network speed. Even if images are displayed just fine on your site, it’s worth considering where your readers are coming from. If you get lots of mobile readers, it might be worth uploading smaller images to save your readers from having to wait to download large images on a small device, where the network speed can be much slower than your home internet (think 2G and 3G mobile networks).

But lets see first the issue.

Thanks! Now I’m sure the problem is not linked to the image sizes, since the problem also happens with small images. Your large images were consequently uploaded to your site just fine.

However, looking at the gallery source code, either your theme or one of your plugins seem to insert empty paragraphs between each gallery image. That’s what creates the layout issues.
Could you try to deactivate all plugins, one at a time, until you find out what plugin is causing the issue? If that doesn’t help, try switching to one of the default themes for a few minutes and see if it helps.

Let me know how it goes.

now, when opening the picture from the gallery, on the picture, the link given is for example: http://i1.wp.com/fabienqueloz.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/AnyaR056.jpg

Since you use Jetpack’s Tiled Galleries, your images are cached and served from WordPress.com servers, as explained here:
    http://jetpack.me/support/photon

That allows Jetpack to create the tiled gallery effect and resize your images on the fly. That also saves you some bandwidth since the images are not served from your server anymore.
And that allows you to serve images from multiple servers all around the world, thus serving images faster to readers who don’t live close to where your server is located.

I hope this clarifies things a bit.

    Hello Jeremy,
    Thanks for the advices.
I had a try with this biased plugin, and the layout then worked really properly, but it slowed down the site. https://wordpress.org/plugins/tiled-gallery-carousel-without-jetpack/ I don’t know why, but it just overpassed the trouble. Although it is not directly the case, I will mark this topic as solved, I finally changed my mind using this layout for too much troubles.

Thanks for your time and your help.
